Frequently Asked

ECG — your questions answered

Is an ECG painful?

No — completely painless. Sticky sensors are placed on your chest, arms and legs for about 30 seconds.

Will I get the result the same day?

Yes — your GP interprets it on the spot and explains it to you.

Is it bulk billed?

Yes when medically indicated (chest pain, palpitations, etc.). Driving and pre-employment ECGs may attract a private fee.

What's the difference between an ECG and a Holter monitor?

An ECG is a 30-second snapshot of your heart's electrical activity. A Holter monitor wears for 24 hours to catch intermittent rhythm issues. We refer out for Holter testing.
